Prayer Partners for Machen
Prayer Letter February 23, 2009

Dear Machen Prayer Partners:

It was on my calendar, but some how I forgot to get the prayer letter done up and sent out. I will just have to blame it on Facebook. 

At the January meeting of the Retreat Operation Committee, there was a discussion of how to advertise MRCC.  This was partially in response to the effort that goes into the work of advertising.

Normally there is a mass mailing of a color brochure containing an insert telling of all the conferences.  Tom Tyson and his wife Jean took on the task of getting this mailing out to all of the churches east of the Mississippi river this year.

In addition to the brochure, there was the ad in the OPC Directory for 2009.  This is the first time that we made the deadline to get an ad in.  This produced some discussion.

All is this is to say that Facebook came up in the discussion, and there seemed to be agreement that MRCC should have an account.  So a fair amount of time has been given to advertising at the meeting.  After the meeting a fair amount of time has been given to setting up a Facebook account.  Machen Retreat is the name of the account incase you would like to become friends with it. Its email is director@machen.com. You might want to read the article in World magazine about Facebook. 

Please pray that the Lord would bless the use of these means of advertizing.  In many ways, the Retreat Operating Committee would like to not doing any advertizing. But we don’t want people to forget about all of the great things going on at MRCC.

Please pray about the proper use of Facebook.  It can take up a lot of time, and has certain drawbacks, as it seems to think that everyone has a cell phone. 

Praise the Lord for the number already registered for the Maple Festival mini conference.
