Young Adult Conference, June 20-23, 2012

Sponsored by the Retreat Operations Committee of the Presbyteries of Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Central Pennsylvania, and Ohio of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church

Theme: Culture and Truth

Christians must be rooted in the truth of Holy Scripture. We have God’s Word, and all creatures have been created by God to be Revelation-Receivers. Christians seek to do everything in dependence upon God’s truth, while the sinful world tries to create reality autonomously apart from God. In the culture in which we live, we must learn to vigorously make known the truth of God’s Scripture. We must eagerly engage culture wisely as we discover God’s truth wherever it is revealed and prayerfully grow in our “powers of discernment, [being] trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil” (Heb. 5:14, ESV). This Conference seeks thus to serve our young people as Christ’s disciples, to know the truth, defend it, and make it known.

The conference is targeted to post-high school College-age people [17-23], and emphasizes the philosophical and systematic study of God’s revelation of truth with cultural applications focused upon film interpretation and discussion.  Rev. Charles Biggs will be talking about Christianity and culture and looking at ‘film and story’ .  Rev. Scott Willet will be talking about God’s revelation of truth, based on 2 Peter, John Calvin’s Institutes, and the Westminster Standards. Don’t miss what promises to be a remarkable conference with great speakers, and offering opportunity to make new friendships and develop old ones.
