Work Groups

From that day on, half of my servants worked on construction,

and half held the spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail.

And the leaders stood behind the whole house of Judah, who were building on the wall.

Those who carried burdens were loaded in such a way

that each labored on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other.

Nehemiah 4:16-17

Work Groups

Every year, Machen asks for a group of volunteers to give a weekend in the spring to prepare the camp and grounds for the upcoming conference season. Most years, we have the crew to do the general grounds maintenance on Friday evening and Saturday. But if there is a large enough group, then we can tackle one of the large projects that are on the Maintenance and Improvements list.

April 26, 2025

Coordinator: Liam Coombes

Seasonal tasks involve:

  • Blow leaves and clear brush from roadways
  • Clean and sweep the cabins
  • Clean and sweep the main lodge

If we have enough volunteers we will tackle these additional improvements

  • Powerwash and strip the deck
  • Clear out rocks and leaves from tent sites
  • Minor repairs

Any questions? Contact our coordinator by email.

Volunteers are welcome Friday from noon on. NO meals are provided on Friday; however, a kitchen is available.  Saturday breakfast is provided only for those spending Friday night. Lunch is provided for all volunteers on Saturday. If you are staying Saturday night, bring your own dinner and snacks. Sunday breakfast is provided. All volunteers must leave by 9 am on Sunday morning. Please join us at Staunton OPC for Sunday School (10:00) and worship (11:00) on Sunday. Be sure to register on the Machen website if you are coming. Please indicate in the Message area how long you are intending to stay and help.

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
